Service Learning: Early Childhood Students Close the Achievement Gap Through Weekly Playgroup for Hispanic Families
A handful of Spanish-speaking students in an early childhood class at Coral Shores prepare a weekly program for Spanish speaking families in the Upper Keys to address the achievement gap.

Babies who learn sign language have an IQ 12 points higher on average than children who don't learn sign language and their SAT scores are also higher than students who didn't use baby sign language. Therefore, each week's curriculum incorporates sign language as well an I Love You Ritual from Dr. Becky Bailey's book of the same name.

Parents also discuss a Developmental AssetR from the Search Institute each week and receive a new book in Spanish for their home library.
