Nobel Laureate Rigoberta Menchu Tum Inspires MYCP Youth in Tally
MARATHON (240 words) -- Community leaders said they wish they could mentor like high school students involved with Monroe Youth Challenge Program (MYCP) because they were so impressed with the personal stories shared. The public is invited to hear from teenagers and adults about the hundreds of youth served through MYCP this year. Please join the MYCP Annual Celebration Thursday, May 6 at Sombrero Country Club in Marathon at 6 p.m.
In addition to hors d’oeuvres and a multi-media presentation that captures the year’s highlights, expect to applaud the 2009-2010 Partner of Change yet-to-be announced as well as volunteers of the year.
At last year’s Annual Celebration, County Commissioner Mario Di Genarro and County Commissioner (then Mayor) George Neugent flank Noah Sutter and his parents Michele and John after presenting him the Congressional Award at the MYCP Annual Celebration.
“We appreciate this event is well-attended by local dignitaries, parents, and students. It has a reputation for being a fast-paced, energetic event. Everyone enjoys seeing how our kids are being the change they wish to see in the Keys and world,” said Sunny Booker, MYCP Director.
